Who We Are
A chance meeting in 2015 led our Co-Founders’ paths to cross. One with 15+ years’ experience leading global development projects, Vance Whitfield began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador executing health and education projects in a rural agricultural community. He is skilled in implementing and managing multi-million dollar projects and public-private partnerships across bilateral and multilateral donor-funded portfolios in 10+ countries across Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. He previously worked for World Learning, Inter-American Development Bank and Cardno International Development. Vance is a culture connoisseur, fluent in multiple Global South development and business contexts and several languages, he ensures our client engagement is tempered with cultural diplomacy to ensure mutual respect and, ultimately, client satisfaction and social impact.
The other, Mike Sehzue, began his career as a U.S. Army Officer, later shifting to operations project management at ExxonMobil and most recently, a management consultant with Deloitte and other boutique consulting firms focusing on IT, logistics, strategy and operations. In 2012, Mike founded the globally-exported West-African agribusiness, Sangar Rum, after his first visit to his father’s homeland, Liberia. It was then that Mike developed a bold vision for economic growth, equity and social impact for local sugarcane smallholders through increased market linkages and returns, launching Miseh Distilling. A seasoned entrepreneur, Mike is skilled at developing entrepreneurial ecosystems to ensure small businesses can thrive – recently leading Houston’s Bunker Labs chapter.
